On January 10, 2022, Katie Schumacher-Cawley, a two-time All-American and cornerstone of Penn State's 1999 National Championship, was appointed as the third head coach of Penn State Women's Volleyball. Before this, she was an assistant under the esteemed Russ Rose. With her guidance, the team maintained a notable 84-31 record over four seasons, consistently appearing in the NCAA Tournament.
Previously, Schumacher-Cawley led Penn Quakers to significant achievements in 2017 and directed UIC's volleyball team from 2009 to 2016, guiding them to the finals of the Horizon League Championship in 2012.
A Penn State alumnus from 2002, she played pivotal roles in collegiate volleyball and basketball. A Chicago native, her stellar athletic contributions have earned her several Hall of Fame inductions. Off the court, she is married to former NFL draftee Mike Cawley, and they have three daughters.
